PURItech and Rochi Engineers: Joint Venture
German-Indian Cooperation – Development and Production of Diesel Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems for the On Road and Off Road Commercial Vehicle Market in India and Other Export Markets
PURItech, a leading European supplier of diesel exhaust cleaning products and filter cleaning equipment, has signed a joint venture agreement with the Indian exhaust system manufacturer Rochi Engineers.
PURItech’s partner manufactures silencer systems, exhaust trains and fuel tanks for the Indian commercial vehicle market and is headquartered in Pune, India. Pune has become an outstanding center of the Indian commercial vehicle industry and an important location for leading German manufacturers such as Daimler and MAN.
The joint venture comprises a Research & Development Center and a modern production facility in Pune. They meet the high global requirements for exhaust gas purification systems.
The commissioning of the new plant took place with the support of financial partners and an investment sum of around 10 million Euro. In 2013, the production of components and small series based on the market-proven PURItech technologies had already been started at the existing location. At the Pune site, exhaust gas purification systems and components for diesel engines are designed and produced. The products are developed and manufactured for the Indian and worldwide firstfit and retrofit markets in the On Road and Off Road segment. A regular exchange of specialists between the two companies ensures the transfer of know-how and promotes a uniform understanding of quality.
“With Rochi, we have found a partner who is already very familiar with Western and established industry standards. For PURItech, this partnership is a historic event in the company’s history. It is also part of our growth strategy to prepare us in time for new growth markets in which we can assert ourselves against established large companies with our cost-effective and reliable technology,” says Bernhard Kahlert, Managing Director of PURItech, about the new strategic partnership.
He expands: “We are convinced of the expansion potential of the Indian and Asian markets and are surprised by the open-mindedness towards “Green Technologies”. Pune already offers a very efficient infrastructure and is a reservoir for highly trained workers in the commercial vehicle sector. That was ultimately decisive for the choice of location.”
Pradeep Kharkar, CEO of Rochi Engineers, also underlines the importance of this partnership for the further development of the company: “We have prepared ourselves very carefully for this market and familiarized ourselves with the requirements of our local and international customers.
With PURItech we have found a partner who has comprehensive know-how in the field of exhaust gas cleaning for diesel engine applications, many years of application experience, a broad product range and ultimately a high understanding of quality. With PURItech and Rochi, two powerful medium-sized companies are joining forces to offer their customers state-of-the-art technologies and systems at cost-effective prices combined with sustainable service on the global market. With our products, we make a significant contribution to improving the environment. We are very proud of that.”
The topic of environmental and health protection has also long since arrived in India and China, and legislators are in the process of adopting emission guidelines comparable to those already implemented in Europe and the USA. Diesel exhaust gases harm the environment and are classified as clearly carcinogenic. The reduction of harmful diesel emissions is therefore unavoidable.
